What days and times is the registration service open ?

The registration service is open all year, from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm, Monday to Friday, except public holidays. Online registration is open 24/7 at : www.afrouen.org/

How far in advance do I need to register ?

We recommend you register at least 2 weeks prior to the beginning of courses.

If you require a certificate of registration to apply for a visa, you must register at least 2 months in advance.

How may I register for a course at the Alliance Française de Normandie ?

You may register online on our website www.afrouen.org/ or in person.

Online registration :

  1. Select your course on the site www.afrouen.org/ and confirm your order
  2. Create your student account
  3. Make payment online
  4. Take the online assessment test
  5. Receive confirmation of your registration

Registration in person :

  1. Go to the Alliance Française de Normandie at 80 boulevard de l’Yser (Rouen)
  2. Sit for an assessment test in person
  3. Pay for your course in person
  4. You are registered!

When may I start classes ?

Classes are held all year round. The Alliance operates by sessions of 4 weeks. You can commence a course any Monday, unless you are a total beginner (in which case you will have to start at the start of a session – see the sessions calendar).

How may I know my level ?

All students who are not total beginners must sit for an assessment test before the course starts.

Following confirmation of your online registration, you will receive an assessment test to undertake two weeks prior to your arrival. This free test allows your levels of written French (grammar, vocabulary and written production) and oral French (oral comprehension) to be evaluated. We will then place you in the class best suited to your needs.

If you register in person, you may sit for your test in person.

You can also sit a test for fun. It is available online on our homepage, by clicking on ”Test my level” to get an idea of ​​your level.

I attended a course in another Alliance Française a year or more ago. Do I have to sit a new assessment test ?

Yes, you do. This test is mandatory to allow your teacher to better understand not only your achievements but also your needs and expectations.

How can I pay for my stay ?

You can pay :

  • Online on our website with your bank card,
  • By bank cheque in Euros,
  • By bank transfer (you must send us, mail or email, a copy of the transfer order with your pre-registration form).

Once received, we will send you a receipt for your payment and your certificate of pre-registration.

Note : Bank charges are always the student’s responsibility

May I cancel my registration or request a refund ?

Before course begins : In cases of cancellation or in the absence of a final registration, the deposit paid during pre-registration and the accommodation search fees are non-refundable, including in situations where visa is denied.

After course begins : Once courses have begun, and in cases where absent from one or more lessons, postponement or reimbursement will not be accepted except in case of force majeure (serious illness, accident) with supporting evidence.

Do you offer preferential rates for courses ?

The longer you study, the more you save. Take advantage of discounts if you register for several weeks. We offer reduced rates for long stays (from 6 months to 1 year).

I want to sit for a French exam (diploma or test), does the Alliance Française Normandie offer this ?

Our school is an official exam centre. Year-round, you may sit for internationally recognised diplomas and certificates: DELF / DALF, DAEFLE, TCF Tout Public, TCF IRN (Intégration, Résidence et Nationalité), TCF Québec / TEF CANADA / DFP.

How do I register for exams ?

You can register for the exams and pay online on our website or at reception. You can also print, complete and sign the form and send it by post. Your application must be submitted at least one month before the examination.

Do I have to pay exam fees in advance ?

Yes, registration fees must be paid at least one month before the exam date (see calendar).

Does the Alliance Française de Normandie offer exam preparation courses?

Yes, we offer preparation courses for DELF B1 / B2 as well as for TCF IRN (Intégration Résidence et Nationalité).

When will I receive my results ?

The results will be sent for :

  • DELF / DALF the transcript of results and the certificate of achievement will be available 10 days after the exam and the diplomas approximately 5 months after the exam,
  • TCF / TEF by email 4 weeks after the tests,
  • DAEFLE by email, one month after the tests.

Do you offer activities outside of classes ?

We offer a wide range of cultural activities outside of classes (guided tour of Rouen, visits to museums, cooking and painting workshops, tastings of French products, concerts, etc.).
