Millenium : a graphic novel
As part of the commemorations of the millennium of the Norman Conquest and William the Conqueror, the Alliance Française de Normandie is leading, for the French cultural network abroad, an ambitious project: the creation and dissemination of a visual, sound, and augmented fresco retracing the European history of the Normans from 1027 to 2027.

This original, immersive, playful, and educational work will highlight the lasting imprint left by the Normans along their European journey, thus revealing to Francophile audiences—whether French-speaking or not—the cultural, political, and, of course, linguistic heritage born from the conquest of 1066.
Inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry and reinterpreted in a contemporary graphic language, the fresco will be painted at the premises of the Alliance Française de Normandie in Rouen. Modular and digitizable, it is intended to travel internationally. The installation will combine sound elements, augmented reality, an educational booklet, and activities for learners of French, as well as conferences and workshops on the language, particularly Anglo-Norman vocabulary.
The artistic creation will be led by inkOj, visual artist and interior architect, in collaboration with a sound engineer and a scientific advisory board, thus ensuring the historical and linguistic accuracy of the work.
Presented for the Month of Francophonie 2027, the work will offer international audiences an immersive and enriching experience, showcasing Norman heritage and its role in European history.
